If your knees hurt especially when you go up and down the stairs, you can contact us here at ProMovement Physio. We’ll help you find what’s causing the problem and provide you with a personalised treatment program.
What causes knee pain?
Your knees might be hurting because of:
Physical damage (might be on your knee’s bone, muscles, cartilage or ligaments)
Inflammation
Arthritis (including gout and rheumatoid arthritis)
Patellofemoral pain syndrome (you feel pain around your kneecap)
Aside from the pain, you might be also noticing the following on one or both of your knees:
Swelling (might be due to inflammation or infection)
Bruising
Locking or clicking whenever you straighten or bend your knee
You can’t straighten your knee
How to treat knee pain?
Although knees look simple, they’re actually complex if we’re talking about their anatomy. That’s because the knee joint itself consists of a complex and extensive network of muscles and ligaments.
With that complexity, the knees can be vulnerable because of overuse, lack of activity, accident, regular strain or poor habits. There are a lot of things that can go wrong especially when we realise how much we rely on our knees for most of our activities.
When things go wrong (e.g. your knees hurt or you can’t straighten it properly), it’s important to ask someone who understands the complexity of knee anatomy. This way, you’ll get the right treatment tailored for you (according to your present condition, lifestyle and immediate and long-term goals).
Here at ProMovement Physio, we can start with figuring out what causes the pain in one or both of your knees. Then, we’ll design a personalised treatment program for you, which might include joint mobilisation, therapeutic exercises and other appropriate measures.
Our goal here is to help you restore your mobility as soon as possible. This way, you can better carry out your everyday tasks, become more physically active or enjoy your favourite sports and hobbies.
